2010 Life Cycle Logistics Tools Workshop and Users Group Symposium, March 8-11, 2010, Huntsville, Alabama

The event was designed to the inform attendees of the latest information on life cycle logistics decision support tools, emerging logistics support concepts, policies and lessons learned.  The event focused on the use of the LOGSA-developed Life Cycle Logistics Tools.  LOGSA’s Logistics & Engineering Center is a World Class leader recognized for developing standards, analytical tools, and performing logistics engineering analysis, as well as providing training for Logistics Engineers and Analysts in the use of the Life Cycle Logistics Tools.  LOGSA strives to develop and sustain logistics engineering standards, analysis and software techniques in a systematic, coordinated, standard and timely manner to meet customer requirements to serve the needs of the United States.

Condition Based Maintenance

LOGSA CBM Data Warehouse Overview: Army Common CBM Data Warehouse - This session will provide an updated overview of LOGSA's Common CBM DW efforts to include what LOGSA has done to date, how LOGSA interfaces with the Aviation CBM DW and how LOGSA's CBM DW effort works with the Common Logistics Operating Environment. This session is targeted toward attendees from PEO's, PM's, LCMC's, RDECOM and their OEM's/contractors who are at work trying to implement or thinking about implementing CBM solutions for the Army, how bulk data should be transferred to the Enterprise and what to do with it once there.  presentation

 CBM Data Warehouse Aviation Overview: This session will provide an update on the status on the Aviation CBM DW under development and housed at LOGSA and it is intended to be used. Cost Analysis Strategy Assessment (CASA)/ Computerized Optimization Model for Predicting and Analyzing Support Structures (COMPASS)

CASA/COMPASS Basic: The basic CASA/COMPASS course will be an executive overview of the two tools purpose, capabilities, and applicability to the Acquisition process.  This session will be geared towards brand new or future users that are not familiar with the basic functionality of the tools.  CASA presentation  COMPASS presentation

CASA/COMPASS Advanced: The advanced CASA course will highlight new capabilities in the latest version of CASA, how to utilized ORCA to import data from other data sources into CASA, and performing advanced modeling techniques. This session will be geared towards individuals that are currently using CASA and COMPASS who know and understand the basics and are looking to increase their depth of knowledge in the tools. CASA/COMPASS Lab: The CASA/COMPASS lab session will provide the basic and advanced user with practical exercises which cover the many new features and capabilities of the COMPASS LORA model.  Interested user's are encouraged to attend this lab to see examples of basic input/output techniques, advanced modeling examples (i.e. two-level maintenance), and a sneak peak at the brand new version of COMPASS! Item Unique Identification (IUID): IUID Implementation Planning and Approval Process:  The Army - LOGSA IUID Support Office was created to assist the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology [ASA(ALT)] in meeting the objectives of the Army IUID Program and to fulfill Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) IUID regulatory and policy requirements.  This session will provide: some basic IUID program history; the IUID Implementation Plan generation, staffing, approval process (LOGSA’s 12 Point Checklist), the latest information from the Army IUID IPT; overview of the Army IUID AKO website; use of the IUID Plan generator (SYSPARS); and a review of the Army IUID Good  News Stories and Lessons Learned initiatives.  This session is intended for individuals who are involved in the IUID processes.   presentation

One-On-One Sessions

One on One sessions: All sessions will give users the chance to work individually with the tool developers.  Detailed demonstrations will be provided as well the answering of detailed and user specific questions.  If you would like to see the software run and/or ask specific questions of the tool teams, this is the forum to do it.

Post Fielding Support Analysis Tool

Introduction to PFSA:  Will provide general information as to the purpose of PFSA, what it contains, and examples of what it can do and how it is used by logisticians. This session is intended for attendees that are new or future tool users. presentation

PFSA for LIW Account Holders:  It will give a general overview of what PFSA contains and a demonstration of its capabilities. This session is intended for new users or future users that have an LIW ACCOUNT.  

PFSA User Group and New Development:  This session is intended for system users and will provide an overview of current, in-progress development efforts as well as a discussion of future plans for PFSA.  The session will focus on Life Cycle Fleet Management. 

PowerLog-J

PowerLOG-J Lab Basic:  This session is designed to assist new PowerLOG Users.  It provides the User with the basic understanding of PowerLOG, how it works and hands on experience.  The User will have the opportunity to learn the basic operations of the program, as well as learning how to locate and operate important functions and features. The User will get hands on experience importing, running reports and the verification of data by using one of PowerLOG's most powerful tools.  presentation

PowerLog-J Task Analysis: This session is designed to assist new PowerLOG users in the development of Maintenance Task Analysis of material weapon systems. This includes the design and documentation of the supporting task procedures for a system. It will also include technical manual development; including MIL-STD-2361 and S1000D. presentation

PowerLog-J Provisioning and Other Techniques (POT) Part I & II:  This session is designed for both powerLOG data developers and data reviewers with specific emphasis on the powerLOG-J provisioning tools and products ranging from finding source data, data import, automatic data generation, data review and final deliverable data.  The presentation will include primarily slides with limited demonstrations.  An attendee should be familiar with the basic provisioning process. presentation

PowerLOG-J Lab Client/Server: This session is designed for Database Administrators and those who fulfill this role. This presentation will cover the Client/Server databases and their pro and cons.  The presentation will go to through the installation of PostgreSQL, Oracle XE, and using an existing Oracle install. presentation

PowerLOG Lab-J Advance: This session is designed for current PowerLOG Users.  It is a hands-on experience of the PowerLOG software system including tips & tricks, “expert” advice, new features, and advance utilities.  This session is not recommended for first time PowerLOG Users.  A user should be familiar with basic PowerLOG operation. presentation

PowerLOG-J User Community Q&A:  This session is designed to talk about where PowerLOG is going over the next year and to answer any questions the users may have. presentation

System Planning and Requirements Software

SYSPARS Introduction:  This session will answer the question "What is SYSPARS and can it help me in my job?"  It will provide a summary of the history of the SYSPARS program.  The features and benefits of the program will be described.  This session is an overview and it meant to help you decide if you would like to attend the in depth SYSPARS training classes. presentation

SYSPARS Future Plans: This session will focus on the future direction of the SYSPARS program.  It will cover the newest technology being inserted into the document generating shell as well as what documents will be added to the program.  This is the forum for requesting new modules and features from SYSPARS. presentation

SYSPARS hands on User Training (LAB): This session will provide hands on training in the operation of the SYSPARS software.  It will guide the user through the creation of files, working with documents and the creation of documents.  Users will go away from this class with a working knowledge of SYSPARS and the ability to create any of the 18 documents that are in the SYSPARS knowledge base. presentation
